Job Advertisement Scientific and Project Manager (f/m/d)

At the Institute of Electrical Engineering (ETI), we focus on future-oriented development and research in the field of power electronics and electric drives in order to improve the increasing requirements in terms of energy efficiency and performance and to create innovations. Therefore, we are looking for a Scientific and Project Manager (f/m/d) to support our research goals in the administrative area at the Chair of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. We offer you an open and collegial environment and support you according to your personal strengths and interests.

Job description

A significant part of your duties will involve the independent administration of finances at the Chair. Controlling, budget and resource planning are as much a part of your duties as reporting, approving procurement requests and checking the target and actual costs per project. You will analyse deviations, independently prepare budget evaluations and statistics, and work out possible solutions. You will also prepare funding applications and project and bid calculations, and monitor and control invoicing. Financial management also includes personnel controlling, including consideration of current and ongoing business periods. Within project management, you support the project participants in questions of project management and business management issues. In addition, you will coordinate possible project changes with FIMA or the project coordinator (funding shifts, term extensions, etc.), collaborate in the preparation of funding applications and be responsible for project calculations. As an administrative interface at the EIT, you will act as a contact person for the KIT-internal departments (EVM, PSE, DE RECHT).
Your tasks will also include participation in the general management of the institute. This includes the preparation and implementation of measures for personnel recruitment and further employment, the preparation of decision proposals for the development of the chair from an administrative point of view as well as the coordination of marketing activities (e.g. creation of flyers, maintenance of the homepage) at the EIT. In addition, you will be available as the central contact person for academic and student enquiries and will sometimes be involved in the handling of business trips, mail processing as well as part-time contracts. You will also be responsible for organising events, excursions and student presentations.

Personal qualifications

You have completed a university degree (Bachelor / Diploma) in a business administration or equivalent subject and ideally have an interest in natural sciences/engineering. In addition, you have experience in finance or controlling as well as in project management; knowledge in the coordination of publicly funded projects and/or in science administration is also desirable. Very good knowledge of MS Office is required; experience in SAP is an advantage. You bring an analytical way of thinking, a structured and independent way of working as well as the ability to work in a team and are always reliable and results-oriented. A very good command of German and good written and spoken English round off your profile.
