  • Motivation

At the ETI, research on galvanically isolated DC/DC converter topologies, such as dual-active-bridge (DAB) and LLC resonant converters, along with their control algorithms are conducted in both student theses and research projects. To ensure efficient and rapid progress, a flexible research platform should be developed. This platform enables quick investigation and comparison of different topologies, accelerating the achievement of research results.

    Tasks

The thesis focuses on the development and validation of a modular hardware platform for isolated DC/DC converters based on SiC/GaN devices. The main tasks include:

    - Design and implementation of the inverter platform (design, layout, assembly)
    - Design of the inductive and capacitive components
    - Experimental commissioning and validation of resonant and non-resonant converter topologies

The developed platform will serve as a versatile testbed for future research/teaching on isolated DC/DC converters.
