Content This module gives an overview about power electronics needed for the energy transition and system stability aspects in
converter-dominated grids
Table of contents:
  • Renewable Energy Transformation Scenarios
  • Need for Power Electronics
  • Single-phase and three-phase PV inverters
  • PV systems aspects, PV power plant concepts
  • Battery storage integration
  • Wind energy converters
  • Grid-integration and power system stability with grid-forming converters
  • Sustainability aspects of power electronics
Recommendations Basic knowledge in the field of electrical components (semiconductors, inductors, capacitors) is helpful.
Additional Informations Place limitation to 16 students due to capacity reasons.
The module takes place in the framework of the EUCOR program.
The course is offered as part of “Eucor – The European Campus” as a joint course with the University of Freiburg. Students
are expected to travel.
